Associate Designer; Government

About You: We are searching for an experienced, energetic, and creative Associate Designer. The Associate Designer will use a combination of education, experience, and creativity, as well as knowledge of commercial, government, and healthcare facilities, to specify and develop layouts for furniture and interiors projects (all sizes and complexity) for our Government clients.

Responsibilities:                                                                                 

  • Local to the DC Area and required to be in the office/on jobsites 2-3 days a week.
  • Provide client with feedback and follow-up including questions, comments and requests
  • Develop documents for conformance with design concepts and construction administration activities. (i.e. RFIs, core drill locations, permit drawings, construction schedule)
  • Provide accurate drawings and bill of materials based on project scope
  • Provide checks on complex projects
  • Expert in coordinating, organizing and leading large and/or complex projects.
  • Expert at communicating what stage a project is in to the project team.
  • Mentoring junior design staff
  • Work and coordinate with junior staff and remote designers
  • Support higher level designers on project activities as needed
  • Review and understand drawings/concepts prepared by others
  • Participate in meetings and activities as needed virtually
  • Perform as a team-player and leader
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage several projects at one time
  • Assist in reading/responding to FF&E bids and responses.
  • Strong understanding of the competitive furniture marketplace in assigned vertical.

Qualifications:                                                                                

  • BS/BA Degree required from a FIDER/CIDA accredited program
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage several projects at one time
  • Knowledge of Government project process and contracts strongly suggested
  • AutoCAD and CET experience required
  • Revit experience helpful
  • 5+ years systems furniture/space planning experience required
  • Strong knowledge of the architectural design process
  • NCIDQ Certification required
  • LEED Certification helpful
  • Strong work ethic and leadership qualities

Associate Designer; Healthcare

About You: We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and creative Associate Designer to join our Health team. The Associate Designer will leverage a combination of education, experience, creativity, and knowledge of healthcare environments to develop furniture and interior solutions that support patient care, staff efficiency, healing environments, and operational excellence. This role will work on projects of varying size and complexity across hospitals, outpatient clinics, ambulatory care centers, specialty care facilities, and other healthcare settings.

Responsibilities:                                                                                 

  • Coordinates, organizes, and leads the design for medium-to-large-scale healthcare projects
  • Works closely with Bialek Health Account Managers and Project Managers to deliver exceptional client experiences and project outcomes
  • Plans, schedules, and directs the development of healthcare interior project requirements
  • Develop design and specification documents that support healthcare design concepts and project implementation activities
  • Delivers client presentations and facilitates design discussions with stakeholders
  • Performs healthcare-focused interior design, space planning, and development tasks, including drawings, calculations, cost estimates, furniture specifications, and finish selections
  • Serves as a primary client contact for design-related questions, comments, and requests
  • Provides timely client communication, feedback, and follow-up throughout project execution
  • Reviews and interprets drawings, specifications, and design concepts prepared by internal and external project partners
  • Participates in meetings and project activities, both remotely and in person
  • Collaborates effectively as a team player across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Reads, responds to, and develops FF&E bids, specifications, and proposal responses
  • Maintains awareness of healthcare design trends, evidence-based design principles, regulatory considerations, and evolving care delivery models
  • Leverages approved AI tools to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency

Qualifications:                                                                                

  • BS/BA Degree required from a FIDER/CIDA-accredited Interior Design program
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple healthcare projects simultaneously
  • Experience in healthcare interiors, healthcare furniture, or the commercial furniture industry strongly preferred
  • AutoCAD and CET experience required
  • 5+ years of furniture systems, healthcare planning, and/or space planning experience required
  • Strong understanding of healthcare design principles, workflows, and the architectural design process
  • Knowledge of healthcare environments, including acute care, ambulatory care, specialty clinics, and administrative healthcare spaces preferred
  • NCIDQ Certification required
  • LEED, EDAC (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification), or other healthcare-focused credentials preferred
  • Strong work ethic, leadership qualities, and client-service mindset
