The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the national trade association for the U.S. wind association. With a responsibility to their budget and goals of creating a collaborative, engaging workspace to replicate their interactive processes, AWEA turned to their design and construction team to reduce their footprint and increase their opportunities for communication. Extensive change management created a new space that cut their space in half by eliminating private offices and creating collaborative spaces. DBI Architects earned the team an Award of Merit recognition from NAIOP DC|MD for Best Interiors 10,001–25,001 square feet.
AWEA moved all staff out of private offices—including the CEO, which allowed for an open floor plan with plenty of alternate spaces to collaborate or to focus on a project alone.
