Joan has been president and CEO of the Bialek Corporation since 1982. Since then she has transformed the organization from a medical supply company and chain of pharmacies into one of the Washington, DC area's leading office furniture, interior modular construction and design organizations. Joan has an extensive legacy of leadership and membership in local and national associations, boards of directors and charitable organizations. She is currently a member of the Committee of 200, the Chief Executives Organization and the World Presidents Organization. She serves on the Board of Directors of the National Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Advisory Board for BB&T Bank. Joan holds a BA from Simmons College.
Chief Financial Officer
Rick has over 20 years of financial management experience. Prior to joining Bialek in 2009, he was CFO and General Manager of an early stage company specializing in marketing information in the “software as a service” (SaaS) environment. Prior to that, Rick held a number of CFO and financial positions in various market segments, including serving as Vice President and Division Controller for the North Atlantic Division of Rexel, Inc., the largest U.S. division of the world’s largest distributor of electrical and datacom supplies. Rick graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and achieved his CPA certification while working at Deloitte.
Director of Design and Project Management
Amanda has worked her way up through the ranks at Bialek since joining the firm as a Design Manager in 1991. In her current role, she is responsible for managing and directing the design, project management and service departments for Bialek. Amanda has been involved in the design of some of the largest replacement military hospitals, a significant commercial project for the Mills Corporation and many other major projects.She is NCIDQ certified, PEAK certified, LEED AP certified and a member of IIDA. Amanda is a graduate of multiple management and leadership programs, such as MBI and HILS. She earned her BS in Interior Design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Director of Sales
Bruce has almost 20 years in the Contract Furniture industry. Prior to joining Bialek in 2014, Bruce joined a prominent Steelcase Dealer in 1996 leading both the Business Development Team and the Corporate Team. After nearly a decade with this team, Bruce was recruited to head the Mid Atlantic Furniture Team for OM Workspace. Responsibilities were for multiple locations from New York through Norfolk. After a 4 year successful tenure, Bruce’s original Steelcase dealer invited him back to rejoin their team. While there, Bruce engaged in the GSA, Higher Ed, Commercial, and Healthcare verticals. Bruce is a Penn State graduate with a Liberal Arts degree, has several industry specific certifications.
